North East Wales Orchard Initiative is about

  • Local fresh fruit
  • The joy of seasonal tastes
  • Organic fruit
  • Conserving North East Wales’ traditional varieties of fruit
  • Making these fruit trees available to the communities they have come from
  • Benefiting our local and global environment
  • Helping create new and renovating old orchards to ensure protection for future generations.
  • Helping to reverse the trend that has seen 90% of orchards in North East Wales lost in the last 60 years.

By buying local fruit and fruit trees, you are supporting all of these.

What is North East Wales Fruit

Local fresh fruit that has grown in North East Wales Orchards, pollinated in the spring by bees that are part of the huge diversity of wildlife supported by our orchards, ripened by the sun, and not picked until they are fully ripe and ready to travel the few miles to market - this is North East Wales fruit.

Did you know?

The average supermarket fruit is picked before it has ripened, has travelled 1000s of miles, and their storage time is lengthened by the use of chemicals.
